Kalinin to battle with the best in the World Championship in Portugal, after a series of victories at home

This weekend the World Superbikes return after the summer break, and Ukrainian champion Nick Kalinin is ready to fight for victory. On September 16th, he - along with 39 of the world's best motorcycle racers in the Supersport 300 class - will compete at the Portuguese track Portimao.

Kalinin, who endured a difficult leg fracture in May, was able to finish the first half of the season in the international arena in fourth place in the Italian Championship. Afterwards, on the recommendation of doctors, he proceeded to the final stage of rehabilitation. Rest combined with a balanced schedule of training helped the athlete fully recover. To maintain the level of skill on the track, Kalinin took part in several motorsport championships in Ukraine during the spare month. The Odessan achieved several victories in the national supermoto championship, where he is the sole leader, and won the fourth round of ring racing in the Supersport 600 class.

Nick Kalinin # 22: "I'm very glad that the World Superbikes are back! During this month, a lot of work has been done at home. Unfortunately, I could not go to tests in Portugal, like many riders, it was important to heal all the injuries completely and turn this page over. During this time I had good races at the Ukrainian championship, so I return to the paddock of the World Superbikes in excellent shape and completely motivated to fight for the podium.

Portimao is a cool track that I really love. Since last year I have had questions on piloting and trajectories here, so from the first practice we will work on what.

I’m happy that the starting list should be Robert Schotman, who was injured in the race in May, like me. He's a fast pilot and a great guy, so it should be interesting".
