Kalinin triumphs with podium in world championship and win at home

A hard-fought podium at the British round of the world championship has been followed with a win at the second round of the supersport national championship of Ukraine.

The 20-year-old made an impressive return to the podium at Donington Park two weekends ago. Despite achieving top 3 results in each free practice session, a crash in qualifying left Kalinin to compete in Saturday’s Last Chance Race. The Odessan kept his cool in the LCR, climbing positions lap-by-lap to take first in the final lap; granting him 30th position on the grid for Sunday’s race.

With hopes for a top 15 result, Kalinin shocked the world as he rose and rose, reaching the top 6 with 2 laps remaining. The continuous effort from the 20-year-old resulted in third place as the world saw the Ukrainian flag on the podium yet again.
Kalinin’s podium in England was his second in the world championship, and yet-again demonstrated his strength this weekend; taking a win yesterday in the supersport class of the national championship in Ukraine.

Nick Kalinin #22 : “Finally we did it! Podium in World Championship! I’m very happy to return home with this achievement. I want to dedicate this result to all of my fans, my family, to everyone who supports me. A special thanks to my main sponsor and friend Devin Battley also, who made my world championship fight possible, to “Arai” helmets and “RST” company that keep me safe during every race weekend, “Nutrixxion” friends for making me strong with their sport food products and my two years sponsor “AM chain” for their high quality chains that I use during my home trainings and fight in the National Championship. It’s very important for me, thanks to everyone!”

The last two weeks have proved successful for our champion, here’s hoping the good luck will continue.

The next round of the world championship will be in Portimao, Portugal, on the 6th of September. Kalinin holds the 11th position in the championship standings.
