Nick Kalinin fights for podium in world championship in the Netherlands

Ukrainian champion is the 4-th at the World Superbike round in Assen.

The sole Ukranian contender in WorldSBK improved significantly from the opening round last weekend in Spain. Throughout the weekend, Kalinin achieved consistent top 10 results, with Saturday’s qualifying session allowing the Odessan to start from P7 on the grid.
In the race, Kalinin successfully joined the lead group and was able to remain in the top 10 for the entirety of the race – with numerous moments where Kalinin entered podium, even winning, contention. Battling against the likes of 2018 World Supersport 300 Champion Ana Carrasco, the #22 rider kept his cool and ended a positive weekend with an admirable 4th place.

Nick Kalinin #22: “I’m very happy to again be in the fight for victory. My team worked on the bike after the Aragon race and we found a solution for this race. It was a crazy weekend and race. We had very difficult conditions in every session when it came to the weather, but I tried not to make mistakes. Snow was a big surprise in Saturday’s superpole. I made just one lap and it started snowing.
I had good start to 2nd position and gave all in this crazy fight. To cross the finish line 4th is good but my main target is to be on podium. I will try to achieve this goal in the next race. Thank you for all of the support from my sponsors, family and fans.”

Nick now places at 9th in the overall standings of the world championship. The next race is to be held on the 10th-12th of May at Imola, Italy; where our Ukranian champion achieved third in 2017.
